The Jamaican Ottawa Community Association was asked to participate in the Latin Expo which took place on
June 4, 2017 from 10:30 – 4:30pm. The event had over 600 people attend where most of the expositors were
Latin-American businesswomen. As they were celebrating Canada 150, it was an event for our seniors to see
some of these businesswomen which is outside of our Scope of Jamaicans.
Melog, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2012, which their mission is supporting and promoting Latin
American Women Entrepreneurs in the Ottaw-Gatineau region in their personal and professional development
We were able to see their service products, business support, ideas, culture, art and much more.
The Jamaican Ottawa Community Association received this message from the organizers at MELOG:
"Tomorrow will be a week that we had our great event, Latin Expo 2017 and we would like to dedicate a couple
of posts to thank those who supported us like the Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association Incorporated,
which purpose is to provide and organize supportive services and activities for persons of all ages and abilities
who are members of the organization or their families and to do so in a manner that welcomes the community at
large and where such services and activities will assist everyone in living healthy and complete lives as
contributing members of Canadian society. This support will enhance the quality of life for the Jamaican
Community and the wider Afro-Caribbean and Canadian communities in Ottawa. Stay tuned for their Carivibe
Parade on June 17.! #LatinExpo2017 #enequipo #somosMELOG"
