Participating at the Carivibe Parade
Carivibe Parade took place on June 17, 2017 in Orleans. The parade was part of the opening to the Carivibe
festivities being held at Petrie Island. We had many new volunteers come on board to help
spread awareness of the Jamaican Ottawa Community Association.

Being a part of the parade helped our seniors try something new by participating in the parade.  We had a
concept of making Jamaican capes and having Canada 150, Jamaica 55 t-shirts made.

The purpose of the association taking part in this parade was to celebrate Canada 150, Jamaica 55, and also
make the association visible to the wider community. This helped our seniors to become marketers in promoting
our t-shirts and capes.  We had people of all ages take part in this event.
