Bowling – September 2006-May 2007
The Bowling team is now going into its' third season. The team consists of 12-15
members. Members are always encouraged to bring guests for the past two seasons
the group has been meeting at West Park Bowling Lane.
Members of the bowling team participated in the fund raising tournament of the West
Indian Transit Group. Plans are being made for a similar event this season.
Walk Around Jamaica April 2007-June 2007
The Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association completed a Walk Around Jamaica
Contest on the 23rd of June 2007. The contest hosted 27 participants who put in a lot of
steps to accomplish the walk around the coastline of Jamaica.
On behalf of the Association and the walkers, we would like to thank the many sponsors
and volunteers for making this event a success.

The Friendly Corner at St. Laurent Shopping Centre hosted the Kick-off of the contest on
April 14, 2007.
Each contestant who required a pedometer was given one on loan from Active Ottawa
Actif.
At different stages the walkers received prizes for participation and presentations. The
Multicultural Health Coalition presented each walker with a tee shirt for his or her
Participation.
The walker with the most steps was awarded a gift certificate for Sports Experts with
special thanks to the Rockers United Soccer Club.
The winner of the Walk Around Jamaica Contest was Mr. Neville Moses with 1,215,697
steps
Soccer Clinics
The Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association in conjunction with Rockers United
Soccer Club hosted two soccer clinics, which were held July 7, 2007 and July 14, 2007.
In total the clinics registered approximately 60 children. The clinics were considered to
be a great success and yielded thoughts of hosting future clinics.
On behalf of the Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association, we would like to thank the

participants who contributed towards the event.
